Professional Practice 3: LiveLab International (B-VIVN-B3Z031)

Aims
In order to provide students with optimal learning opportunities to acquire interprofessional competencies, the didactic elaboration of the LiveLab is based on the IPEC Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (Interprofessional Education Collaborative, 2016) framework:
- Core Competency 1 ‘Values and Ethics for Interprofessional Practice’: Collaborating with individuals from different disciplines in a climate of mutual respect and shared values.
- Core Competency 2 ‘Roles and Responsibilities’: Use the knowledge of one's own role and that of other disciplines to identify, assess and address the needs of care recipients/clients in an appropriate way.
- Core Competency 3 ‘Interprofessional Communication’: Communicate in a responsive and responsible way with care recipients/clients, their families and professionals from different disciplines, so that from a team approach health promotion, health promotion and the concrete treatment can be deployed.
- Core Competency 4 ‘Teams and Teamwork’: Apply relationship building values and the principles of teamwork to effectively engage in various team roles to plan, execute and evaluate patient-centered care (person-centered care) and care and population health programs that are safe, timely, efficient, effective and equitable.
The LiveLab International course also aims at direct international, interprofessional and intercultural collaboration between the students of the partner institutions.

Content
LiveLab international focusses on the changing world of education and meets the needs for student exchange at an international level. Students from al over the globe come together to learn with, from and about each other during the assignments.
LiveLab International is an innovative educational project based on 3 key elements:
- First, the LiveLab International is organised in a digital way. Learning and collaborating in a digital way makes this project very accessible for students and supports the idea of internationalisation at home and stimulates digital mobility. During this project you will meet students form other universities during digital meetings.
- Second, the LiveLab International is an interprofessional project. During this project you will collaborate with students from other professions to exchange knowledge, skills and experiences on the topic of healthcare. During this project, several teams of interprofessional students (e.g.: nursing, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nutritional and dietary studies and socio-educational work, ...) will work together on innovative solutions to global challenges.
- Third, LiveLabs International aims to work on the international competences and intercultural exchange. During this project you meet students for partner universities al over the globe. The assignments during the project will focus on meeting other cultures and understanding these cultures through collaboration.

During the project a tutor will be assigned to your interprofessional team. This tutor will help you through the different steps of the project.
The students will receive the study and learning materials through the chosen learning platform. During this OPO, the student has to use the acquired knowledge and expertise from the previous phases of the training. Additional and supporting information to carry out the assignment is offered through the tutor of the interprofessional team.

The students will consult within interprofessional and international working groups to carry out the assignment. This happens during online learning moments.
Students meet monthly during an online contact moment in which all participants of their own workgroup are present. Students are prepared for this contact moment by means of inspiring lectures and discuss the assignments and experiences during this contact moment.
Number of contact hours: Preparation for the contact moments on the specific topics via textbook or other instructional tools published for the purpose of instruction and used for or in conjunction with the course for: Videotaped theoretical lessons, articles, ...
Contact moments:
- Eight monthly contact moments of 2 hours.
- a final evaluation in June: based on the evaluations of the different assignments
- a (digital) conference in July
