The key on social and intercultural competences starts from the international competences of personal growth, culture as a personal and social context and communication as a means to co-operate and co-create activities. This way the intercultural  skills and global engagement is upgraded in a wider community of both personal and professional values.

Inhoud

You will learn skills for civic competence, starting form personal identity and social awareness.  Therefore we focus in this key on self-knowledge and on facing diversity in our way of life. The qualifications we need to live as a citizen in the today’s Europe, requires insight in the complex phenomenon of identity and the way we live as a human being in a group. We implement this on the teacher and his pupils. 

The theoretical framework we work starts from three different angles : a psychological,  a philosophical  and  an artistic viewpoint.  In order to achieve the depths of this theoretical framework, we share knowledge (as part of an intercultural group of teacher trainees) of possibilities to play with body-language, drama, rhythm and melody in language in order to focus on the personal and social identity. 

You are invited to develop intercultural activities starting from reallife examples during the lessons. .  You acquire  expertise in guiding pupils in exceeding their limits, fears in the domain of expressing their feelings and inner thoughts.

Syllabus : a reader with an overview of contents- a checklist with guidelines for the paper- it is however very important to note down the essentials personally

Books : excerpts that you need will be provided during the sessions 

Video-materials, articles and inspiring good practices will be provided on Toledo

Online materials are provided with during the process of the lessons. In unusual circumstances the on campus hours will be replaced by online materials

Toelichting onderwijstaal

Since VICKIE is an international program, the language is English. Since we focus on intercultural and social competences, oral and written communication is necessary. A student who does not take up this challenge will have difficulties in following the course

Information on content, progress and process in this course is given in the lessons and on Toledo...The lessons are given in co-teaching.

Assignment (paper on the personal identity in the context of social and intercultural competences)

Permanent evaluation (contribution in all the sessions,steps in the paper in progress -a checklist will be provided)   The steps in formulating the paper and interactive exercises are part of the way to make progress
