This course will give students a useful framework to gain in-depth knowledge about international challenges related to geopolitics and tourism.

The sessions will zoom in on specific trends in global tourism and the impact of current events on the future of travel. 

  • Case studies: Europe- the Middle East- Africa- Asia - the Americas
  • Tourism and the Economy: The rise of new tourist hubs
  • Future trends, challenges and opportunities (climate change, overtourism, gentrification,...)

  • PowerPoint handouts provided by the lecturer

  • Readings on specific cases available on Toledo

All sessions will be taught in English.

  • Individual: a written essay: 15%
  • Group presentation: 20%
  • Oral examination: 50%

This course unit does not allow partial mark transfers.

  • New individual presentation: 30%
  • Oral examination: 70%
